The effect of intravenous vitamin C on tumors

This case represents the case of 82 years old male gentleman who has a history of prostate cancer and was operated years back, but it re-occurred. No therapy was given to him. Lately, he presented with dementia & Alzheimer-like clinical presentation. I did brain MRI for him in 13.8.2015 and found a large right temporo-parieto-occipital lobe tumor that partially extends into the splenium of the corpus callosum, associated with abnormal contrast enhancement & diffusion restriction. I reported this lesion as: suspected to be “Cerebral lymphoma”, DD “Large solitary metastases

Due to his age and his clinical statues (e.g., diabetes), the family refused chemotherapy since it will just worsen the case and it will bring him no use other than disability and fast death. The grandson consulted me for anything we can do, I suggested vitamin C intravenously since it boosts the immune system and it will give him some energy, which most cancer patients are deficient

The patients received intravenous doses of vitamin C only twice a week for 1 and half months, with no other natural remedies or any other medications for cancer.  Lately, the patient mental status started to change. A new MRI done for him that showed marked brain edema surrounding the tumor that was NOT there in the previous MRI. Moreover, the brain mass texture itself is heterogeneous internally with heterogeneous contrast enhancement (it was almost homogenous in the old MRI)

Vitamin C is a known booster of the natural killer (NK) cells, the cancer-fighting lymphatic cells. Cancer patients are notoriously lacking the power to initiate inflammatory reactions, which is why the cancer cells grow in peace for years before they show themselves. What vitamin C does is that it boosts NK cells, making them more energized and sensitive to viruses & cancer cells. Moreover, vitamin C’s chemical structure is similar to glucose. Cancer cells takes vitamin C like glucose, and inside them it is oxidized into “Dehydroascorbate”, the oxidized form of vitamin C. Dehydroascorbate is a toxic substance to cancer cells, killing them almost exactly like chemotherapy, without the devastating effects of chemotherapy; beside, it nourish the normal cells
